Manchester Project Sticker Shock December 2009

Over the 2009 Christmas break period 100% of the alcohol retailers in Manchester participated in Project Sticker Shock including Manchester Market, Manchester Marathon, Wakerly’s, and the Fredonia Grocery.  With the help of Manchester Voices and Manchester Students Leading Students (formerly SADD) over 2600 stickers were distributed in the Manchester community. The project aims to cause adults to think twice before providing alcohol to minors.

Drugs 101 Manchester

With the sponsorship of SCRUD (Saline Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking) through the Judy Ivan grant, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital was able to provide the Drugs 101 Program for free to Manchester parents. The Drugs 101 program educates parents about signs, symptoms and current trends of alcohol, tobacco, inhalants, marijuana and other drugs teens may use. Pre and post survey results of the program, by those whom attended, indicated a significant increase in knowledge of teen drug related issues.

The next Manchester Voices meeting will be Monday May 10, 2010 at 6:30 PM in the Media Center at Manchester High School.
